Flute

Flute lessons for all.

Be the best flutist that you can be no matter where you come from.

Do you ever feel frustrated that your playing is not where you want it to be?

  • You work really hard only to find out that you are super behind compared to your peers.

  • You audition for All-State and get so nervous that you can’t play your best.

  • You're amazed by the 7-year-olds on Youtube who can play Carmen Fantasy, but you have no idea how they got there.

  • You want to get better at playing the flute, but you don’t know how. (There are only so many YouTube videos on vibrato, am I right?)

  • You’ve been in band for a long time and you feel like you want to go to the next level but can't.

  • You’re thinking about going to college as a music major and you have no idea what kind of skills or what kind of playing level colleges are looking for. (Are you cut out for it?)

If you have wondered about any of these things, then you're in the right place.

Oh, and parents...

Is there anything more frustrating than having a bright flute student who wants to learn more but you don't know how to make it happen?

You’re a dedicated parent of a talented, young flutist. You try to motivate your young musician by going to all of their school concerts (and being the most enthusiastic parent in the audience!), taking them to live concerts with professional musicians, and encouraging them to perform for you so that they can manage their nerves.

It seems that no matter how supportive and helpful you try to be for your young flutist, you always feel like you can do more. Do you ever feel like you need someone who understands where you’re coming from and can help you navigate it all?

I understand because I've been there.

This is where I come in.

Sheet Music

Lessons are super important, but why?

Picture this: say you found an amazing piece (let’s say Concertino, Op. 107 by Cécile Chaminade) and you are DYING to learn it. You go to your band teacher and ask for some help. Your rockstar band teacher gives you some tips, maybe directs you to some websites, and you’re probably wondering, “Why don’t I sound like THAT?”

Getting better at the flute is easy if you know how to practice efficiently, create small, achievable, realistic goals, and balance all of the woodshedding (scales, long tones, and etudes) in ways that can be fun.
